So I don’t do many reviews but have decided to do so to help out anyone looking for a decent headset on a budget. Headsets have become a must have for most gamers these days and extortionate prices for high end models and so much choice in the market makes it a difficult choice. So, is it any good?
I’ve had this particular headset for a number of years, all the way back in December 2011. I must admit that headsets at the time were not a real issue to me, so I chanced my luck on this model because it was affordable and had relatively good feedback and I could also play my PS3, Xbox and PC with it. It has stood the test of time very well and even in todays crowded market it holds its own nicely in its price range.
The headset is a wired one, which for me is no issue. I personally prefer not worrying about whether my headset is going to cut out mid game and have to be charged for a lengthy spell. It is easy to set up and has very little fuss, that being said it’s certainly not a basic headset. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this, here’s a short list of the pros of the headset.
- It is lightweight and not too restrictive
- The clarity is great for its price and it boasts ‘HD’ sound
- It’s great for those who own a variety of consoles and a PC
- It’s great for longer gaming sessions because of its comfortable design
- The mic itself is flexible and is of great quality
- It offers the best value in its price range. I have tried many others and at a low price this is king.
It does everything a headset should do, there’s no fuss. It is designed to be a simple entry headset but I feel it outperforms headsets twice its price. If you’re like me and enjoy long, hard gaming sessions online(sounded dirtier than what it was meant to) then the Gioteck EX05 is for you. Even if you own a more expensive set of headphones buy these as a back up, or if you prefer wireless buy these for when batteries are low.
